Resetting an OPrint Trial (Windows)

.CONTEXT

Every so often you inherit a small utility that solves a very real problem, but lives in the uncanny valley between “indispensable” and “forgotten.”

OPrint—an AirPrint relay / proxy for Windows—has been one of those tools for me. I’ve had to reinstall it more times than I care to admit while rebuilding or migrating systems, labs, or one-off environments.

This note exists purely because I got tired of rediscovering the same steps.

.DISCLAIMER

This is shared for educational and troubleshooting purposes only. If you rely on a piece of software long-term, pay for it. Developers deserve to eat.

.PROBLEM

OPrint stores its trial state in a small handful of registry keys and a single configuration file. Uninstalling alone does not always reset the trial.

.SOLUTION

To reset the trial period back to 30 days:

  1. Quit OPrint completely.
  2. Delete the following registry keys (including all sub-values):

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\OPrint
    HKCU\AppEvents\EventLabels\option

  3. Delete the following file:

    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\config\settingenv

  4. Re-open OPrint.

The application will initialize with a fresh 30-day trial period.

.NOTES

.CLOSING

This is one of those tiny bits of operational trivia that never makes it into documentation—but saves real time when you need it.

Future-me: you’re welcome.
